“Clarissa is a lively, spontaneous and thorough teacher, with a broad knowledge of a variety of musical styles.”
– Sarah Newbold, BA ARCM LRAM Dip NCOS
I’m a friendly, experienced teacher of flute, fife, recorders and music theory, trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and based in Bristol and Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset. I also teach piccolo and alto flute. Whether you’re a beginner or a ‘re-starter’, playing for fun or working towards an exam, I can help you achieve your musical goals. Children and adults welcome.
I teach at all levels – from complete beginner to post-Grade Eight.
I have an enhanced DBS check and full public liability insurance.
Twice a year I organise a concert in central Bristol, giving all my students the chance to perform solo or in an ensemble.

'You've done amazingly remotely!'
'Thank you for a wonderful year of flute playing. It's amazing that my daughter had never played the flute until this year and now she is playing whole tunes'
'My teenage daughter has been taught by Clarissa for a year having previously been with another teacher. I have noticed that she looks forward to her lessons and is now very motivated to practise. Incredibly! My daughter has become really interested in improving her technique and tone. As a parent I find Clarissa very easy going and friendly and would recommend her to anyone who is wanting to play the flute.'
'I’ve really enjoyed learning to play the flute with Clarissa. Starting as a novice at this sort of instrument as an adult could have been a difficult challenge but I always enjoy lessons and can really see how much progress I have made over the last two years. With an equal focus on playing pieces, technique and all the important details of flute playing, I feel I am becoming a well-rounded player.'
